I Must Confess...
Over the years I've been told...by many people...that I'm hard to read. Moms calls it "aloof." Whatever you want to call it, I'm a pretty closed off person. I wouldn't really say that I'm shy, just careful as to who I let in and what I let them know. It just takes awhile to get to know me. But once you're in, you're in! And I don't bite (hard).
Here are a few things that you might not know about me:
2. My mom is basically my best friend. Period. We talk several times a day on the phone and my step-dad believes I turned her into a monster when we both got iPhones because she can't stop texting me :) To Moms: Call me in 5 mins!
3. I LOVE to read! Ever since I can remember I have always had a book in my hand. Right now I'm really into biographies, fashion memoirs and "how-to"s and all things Pride and Prejudice-y. I always have a book in my purse, just in case. That could possibly be why my eyes are so bad...on to #4...
4. I'm legally blind. I asked the optometrist one visit if I would be a good candidate for Lasik surgery. He looks at my chart and back at me and simply says, "No." Umm, what? He says, "Even if you did get Lasik surgery you would probably still have to wear some sort of corrective lens." Great.
5. One day I hope to find my own Mr. Darcy. Possibly one that looks like Colin Firth. Or Channing Tatum.
6. My dogs are my children. Okay, so you probably already knew that. Riley Belle and Reagan are awesome babies and I can't wait to move into a bigger place and add to my household! I'm currently in the market for a German shepherd and a French bulldog. The German shepherd will love me unconditionally (of course!) but will also be trained to attack on command. So, watch out.
To the lucky man I am going to marry someday: We are a package deal. You have to love my dogs to love me.
7. I cry. A lot. I am a very emotional and sensitive person. I can cry at the drop of a hat or when yelled at, confronted, watching TV, or even in everyday conversation. It has scared old boyfriends and made my parents think I'm completely nuts, but I can't help it. I, on the other hand, think it's one of my most endearing qualities...
8. I speak French. Kind of. It was one of my majors in undergrad and one of my biggest regrets since graduating is that I haven't kept it up. After graduating from PC I looked into traveling abroad and teaching French as a job for a bit. I wish now that I had followed through with that. I pray that working in the fashion industry will allow me some opportunities to travel (and possibly work) in France one day so that I can put my mad skills to work :) In the meantime, I will have to settle with eavesdropping on the occasional French-speaking client who visits me at work! Maybe one day I will get the courage to interact with them...
9. The Biggest Loser makes me cry. Every week. Refer to #7 for an explanation.
10. I am a reality TV junkie. It is my high. Real Housewives, The Hills, Jersey Shore, The Biggest Loser, Teen Mom/16 and Pregnant, Project Runway, Kate Plus 8...and the list continues. I can't help it but I simply get sucked into these shows and they somehow give me some satisfaction that I'm doing okay in my life. My mom should be so proud :) Which brings me to #11
11. I can't live without my General Hospital. Or Will & Grace reruns. These are the few scripted TV shows that I watch in a world filled with reality TV. GH is on everyday in my apartment, and if I'm working or at school you can bet that it's being recorded. I blame my mother for this. Back in the day she got me hooked and I've been in love with Jason Morgan ever since. I also used to LOVE Passions. Anyone remember that one? Quality. Other (scripted) favorites are How I Met Your Mother, Pretty Little Liars, and of course, Friends.
12. I miss college. Do I really need to explain that one? Being surrounded by great friends, the frat houses (always and forever an Alpha Sig Sweetheart <3), Springs/GDH, the A4 townhouse, Roomers-Sarah Kathryn Eldredge and the never-ending "WHAT DID I DO LAST NIGHT?!" conversations, the Quartet, Sigma, JVG, dum vivimus servimus, Lipford and Slicemaster (my Econ professors), Mexico Maymester, Study Club, etc. I could go on forever. Some of the best times in my life took place in Clinton, SC and I would love for my children to someday go to Presbyterian College. I will always cherish the memories and friendships that I made there.

14. I have no idea how to cook. True, I used to idolize Rachael Ray. And true, I have several of her cookbooks on my shelves. But truthfully, making a lean cuisine in the microwave is sometimes pushing it on stressful days. I have like one signature dish (and yes, it's a Rachael Ray dish) but I wish I could do more...on a regular basis. Generally I don't feel like cooking and peanut butter sandwiches and BBQ chips have become the staple for lunch/dinner. Hopefully my future husband can take care of this...
15. I've had my current car since Junior year in high school. And quite honestly, I will drive her until the wheels fall off. I can remember the day when my parents drove her to my then-boyfriends house to show me. Then-boyfriend was like, "Baby, that is such a cool car...!" And we've been together ever since. The car and I, that is...This car and I have been through two years of high school, 4 years of driving to SC and back and many Athens-Gwinnett trips when I used to work in Lawrenceville and Buford while living in Athens. Whew! I love my tourquoise sports car. She has been so good to me. Hopefully she will continue to be good to me in the future.
