Random Acts of Kindness

So today I was having lunch with my BFF, Lindsey at PF Changs in Buford and the weirdest, luckiest, most random thing happened.

Before Lindsey arrived I was sitting outside checking Twitter and Facebook on phone while I was waiting for her.  When she arrived I got up, gave her a hug, and we went inside.  After having been seated for a few mins, Lindsey excused herself to go to the restroom and I pulled out my phone again...never liking to be left alone with nothing to do...

And I noticed I had a missed call and voicemail from a number that I didn't recognize.  Thinking this was weird, I listened to it and here's what it said:

"Umm, hi...my mom and I found your keys outside PF Changs by the Mall of GA and we wanted to let you know that we dropped them off inside at the front hostess stand in case you're looking for them!"

While I was listening to the message I automatically assumed it was a wrong number, but instinctively I began looking in my purse for my keys...which I could not find!

Panic struck...was this message really meant for me?!  When a server brought out our salads I said to him, "Uh, hi, I think I might have left my keys outside and someone turned them in up front.  Would you mind checking for me?"  He was probs like, "No lady, get up and get them yourself."  But he didn't.  He just looked at me a little strangely and said he would check.  Two minutes later he came back to my table holding my keys in his hand!

Oh my goodness, yay!  Was my first thought.  My second was, "Wait...how did they know my phone number?"  Inside my key chain wallet there are several school IDs and misc. stuff and so Lindsey suggested they looked inside, saw my name, and found me on Facebook.  Which I could see happening but still thought it was a little strange for them to go through all that trouble just to return some lost keys.

Without thinking too much else about it, I texted the number that called and said how grateful I was that they found and returned my keys.  I immediately got a text back saying they were happy to help :)

The more I got to thinking about it, I was so very appreciative of this mother/daughter duo who not only found my keys but returned them to me!  It was a great thought knowing that there still are some nice people in the world who are willing to help others.  It was really touching :)

Just a little while ago I was relaying the story to my brother and his friend over dinner and they too were dumbfounded about where the mother/daughter duo could have found my phone number.  So I pulled out allllll the contents of my key chain wallet and found a Vera Bradley luggage tag insert.  On which was my: name, e-mail, and cell phone number :)
