Nous menons une vie de chien

Nous menons une vie de chien.  Translation: We lead a dog's life. Back in high school I had one of those tear-off daily French calendars that I had gotten for Christmas from my parents.  One day I came across a page with this saying on it.  I immediately tore it off and excitedly showed my parents, all the while laughing as my step-dad, Court, tried to say it :)  It's been on our refrigerator at home ever since. <I apologize...this post might be kind of long...but it chronicles how our dogs (all 5 of them) came into our family> And it's so true.  Dogs rule our household.  No questions asked.  I have two babies and my parents have three.  And a cat.  I will explain... In second grade I reaaaallllllly wanted a cat.  So since my mother claims that "we are NOT dog people" she allows me to get a kitten.  At our local pound I find a little tabby cat who was in the "Pet of the Week" cage with a few ot...

I Must Confess...

Over the years I've been told...by many people...that I'm hard to read.  Moms calls it "aloof."  Whatever you want to call it, I'm a pretty closed off person.  I wouldn't really say that I'm shy, just careful as to who I let in and what I let them know.  It just takes awhile to get to know me.  But once you're in, you're in!  And I don't bite (hard). Here are a few things that you might not know about me: 1.     I was a college athlete.  I played tennis in college (and in high school too) but haven't picked up a racket since.  And yes, I do miss it.  GO BLUE HOSE!  On a side note, as ironic as this may sound...I hate to exercise.  End of story.  And this probably contributes to the fact that I have not played tennis in 2+ years.  Someday I want to get back into "the swing of things"...haha... 2.     My mom is basically my best friend.  Period....

Mama always said...

Well, here goes nothing.  I decided to start this blog because several of my best girl friends have them and, to be quite honest, I simply enjoy reading them.  So after contemplating as to whether I would have anything interesting, funny, or insightful to say on a blog, I decided that what the heck, might as well try! It's only the second week in January and we've already have two snow days.  Yes, you heard right: TWO SNOW DAYS IN GEORGIA!  And UGA is already closed for tomorrow too.  I'm not quite sure what is going on around here, but I kind of like it.  This semester I am not taking any classes myself so these snow days do not really affect me too much.  I just have my Textiles Testing lab assistantship and 12 thesis hours to complete my semester.  Seems pretty stress free, right? Wrong! Thesis.  Thesis.  Thesis.  This word has haunted me from the first time I sat down with my department head and learned that this program I...
